Tips on Choosing a Macro Lenses

Choosing macro lens is a little complicated because many lens options, of which 2 millions to 15 millions. Whatever we need to get a macro lens that suits your needs and our budget? So no regrets for choosing a macro lens is not quite right, then we should notice some features of a macro lens below:

A. How much the magnifying?
Find information about the lens, its magnification is 1:1 or 1:2 or 1:3.5 magnification 1:1 It is best that means we can focus very close to the subject and the subject of the same size camera sensor or film size. When we photograph a ruler, 1 cm on the ruler will be equal to 1 cm, which was captured on the camera sensor. 1:1 macro lens which usually can not zoom the lens.

2. Macro lens for full frame or not?
Most of the macro lens designed for DSLR cameras with digital SLR cameras are usually has a sensor full frame. Lens to full frame camera has a larger diameter, would be more expensive. Lately there is a special lens for DSLR cameras has a sensor smaller than full frame, so that the macro lens of this type is cheaper and lighter.

3. How much lens focal distance
The more telephoto, or far-reaching, automatic lens will be more expensive. The lenses are far-reaching, like a 100-200m, outdoor needed to photograph insects, or other moving objects. Short-range lenses such as 60mm, suitable for indoor as food or still life photography.

4. Speed of auto focus
Most of the macro lens has an auto focus performance is slow because the design of a wide range of focus. In my experience, there are some macro lens that has a fairly high speed auto focus lens that Canon has USM motors. Each macro lens is also usually has a focus limit switch, which means we can restrict the range of focus so as to accelerate the speed of auto focus.
Speed of auto-focus is actually not so important for photographers who like close-up photography, but for photographers who also photographed the type of action and sports photography, macro lenses with auto focus quickly is more effective to use.

5. vibration dampers
Macro lenses are not a lot that has a vibration damping function, and that these features are usually relatively expensive, this vibration absorbers help prevent vibration affecting the image of our hands. Although very helpful, especially if we take pictures in difficult field conditions, most photographers use a tripod for maximum results.

6. Dust and water resistant
If weather conditions are often taking in a less friendly, then the macro lens that features a dust proof and water should be taken into consideration. For example, Canon L series lenses are usually resistant to dust and water.

7. Macro lens that can zoom?
There are some zoom lenses, especially telephoto macro feature. Zooming usually only about 1:3 to 1:5 and the resulting image quality is not so detailed and sharp when compared with a special macro lens. But the price is much cheaper and can double that attract many people.

8. maximum aperture
Macro lens maximum aperture is f/2.8 is usually relatively large, and there is also an f / 2. Maximum aperture is not so important on a macro lens, because it is usually close-up photographers to choose an opening large enough to be the subject of a sharp picture from side to side. Although written f/2.8, macro lens if it is getting closer to the subject of the picture, the smaller the maximum aperture. For example if we are to subject distance of 1 m, the maximum exposure that we can be selected is f/2.8, but if we are only 10 cm from the subject of the picture, the smaller the maximum aperture to f/4.5 or smaller.
